- Set the metal implants in place. Metal components that replicate the joint’s surface are used to replace the lost cartilage and bone. These metallic components could be pressed-fit or bonded into the bone.
- In Patella surface repair, a plastic button is used to cut and resurface the patella undersurface. Depending on the circumstances, some surgeons choose not to resurface the patella.
- Add a spacer to generate a smooth surface. A medical-grade spacer is put between the metal parts.
